On behalf of the Muslim Association of Canada, I would like to welcome you to our annual Muslim Summer Festival. Our mission for the Festival has been simple and remains the same: bringing Canadians together to celebrate Islamic contribution and multiculturalism to our beloved country, Canada.
The idea of holding the annual Muslim Summer Festival was developed to provide a platform for the citizens of Ottawa to sample our culture and traditions. There are over 800,000 Muslims in Canada with over 60,000 residing in the Ottawa area, representing more than 40 different nations. Since the Muslim community is an integral part of the larger community of Ottawa, we feel that it is our responsibility to initiate a constructive and mutually beneficial process of cultural exchange through events such as the Muslim Summer Festival.
The attendees of our festival keep coming back yearly to celebrate and enjoy cultural showcases, ethnic foods, shop in the bazaar section, and have fun with our many games and activities. The festival is always growing and evolving and we are excited about some new additions to our program this year, which will include an Islamic art exhibit and new games for children.
Therefore on behalf of the Muslim Association of Canada, and all of the committee members who organize the Muslim Summer Festival, I would like to welcome you and thank you for your continued support. We hope to see you at our Festival.
